Early History
1955 - 1999
1955: First campus opens in New York City
1959: New York Tech awards first degrees; “teaching machines” introduced in physics, electronics and mathematics.
1965: Long Island campus, formerly known as Old Westbury campus, opens on former Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney estate
1992: College of Osteopathic Medicine establishes first clinical campus, St. Barnabas Hospital.
1999: Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates speaks on campus and receives New York Tech Presidential Medal.
